There are more clinics than ever and patients compare on their phone before calling. We tell you, straight, where that first appointment is won today.
Opening the clinic and waiting for people to walk in no longer fills the schedule. Patients compare before calling, and they do it on their phone, so the first appointment is won on the screen long before the phone rings.
When someone has toothache or wants an orthodontics quote, they turn to Google. And almost always with the area stuck to the search, like "dentist in Getafe" or "dental clinic near me". Nobody crosses the city for a cleaning, so the search is local by nature.
The first thing that patient sees is the three clinics on the map and the top results. If yours isn't there, for that person you don't exist, however good a dentist you are. And every year there are more practices fighting over the same slice of screen.
The Google business profile, that listing that appears on the map, is free and in most clinics it's half done. Filling it in well is one of the most profitable things you can touch this week. The basics:
If you want the detail on how to climb the rankings, we go into it in appearing on Google Maps. Before going on, three figures to take the pulse of the sector:
dentists are registered in Spain (2025), 1.9% more than the year before. The market is full: if a patient doesn't find you soon, they find someone else. Source: Consejo General de Dentistas
reviews has the best-rated clinic in Madrid and, even so, it doesn't appear among the top 30 on the map. Piling up opinions doesn't lift you; working on the listing does. Source: El Español
dentists per 100,000 inhabitants is what Spain has, one of the highest densities in Europe. With so much competition, building trust stops being optional. Source: Consejo General de Dentistas
People used to ask a relative; now they read the reviews. A patient trusts what other patients said more than any advert you run, and that's why Google opinions have become your real shop window.
Here an honest nuance is in order: piling up stars doesn't automatically place you at the top. In an analysis of a hundred Madrid clinics, the one with the most reviews didn't even appear among the top thirty. What made the difference was replying to opinions, the bad ones included, and keeping the profile active. It's not about having more reviews, but about looking after each one.
Ask happy patients for a rating with an easy link, reply to them all calmly and politely, and never make up reviews: it shows, and it burns the trust that's so hard to earn. You'll find more ideas for bringing patients in at how to get patients.
From the listing and the reviews, the patient jumps to your website. If it takes five seconds to open on mobile, a good share leave before seeing it. It doesn't matter how good you are in the practice: if the page is slow, most never get to know you.
And once inside, a clinic's website has just one job: to turn the visit into a booked appointment. You achieve that with trust signals a patient grasps at a glance:
That's how we approach web design for dental clinics: fast, clear and built to make the phone ring.
Plenty of people want to book at eleven at night, without calling. If your website lets them book at any hour, you catch the appointment the moment the patient's intent is hot; if you force them to wait for reception hours, many never try again.
Once the appointment is booked, the other problem begins: no-shows. An empty chair is money lost that day, and it doesn't come back. Reminders by SMS, WhatsApp or email bring absences down, and if you ask for confirmation you can free up and fill the slot in time. A serious CRM for clinics does this on its own and, on top of that, tells you how much absenteeism you had and how much you've cut, measured in your own schedule and not in a brochure's promise.
The cheapest patient to win is the one who already knows you. And that's exactly the one almost every clinic lets slip away: they came once, didn't come back, and nobody said a word to them.
A follow-up system changes that with no daily effort: check-up or cleaning reminders every six months, nudges for treatments left half done and reactivation of anyone who hasn't shown up in over a year. It's the least flashy work and the one that fills the schedule most. If you want to see how we set it up and what each option includes, take a look at our plans.
