The Observatory · our own data

We analyzed 1.734 websites of Spanish small businesses.

It’s not an opinion or an estimate: it’s what our system measured when it audited 1.734 websites of small businesses in Spain in 2026. Nearly 9 out of 10 have a flaw that’s costing them customers, and most don’t even know it.

The headline

1.557 of 1.734 websites had something broken.

What stands out isn’t the individual numbers, but the pattern: most of these businesses have a website that’s «up and running», but that doesn’t work for them. It loads slowly, people don’t find it on Google and, when someone does land on it, taking the next step isn’t made easy.

65%

Loads slowly on mobile. Two out of three: Google pushes them down and the visitor leaves before seeing anything.

25%

No meta description. Google improvises a worse text under your link and you get fewer clicks than you should.

10,5%

Without even a title tag, the most basic thing in SEO. One in ten.

7,4%

The layout shifts or breaks on load: buttons that jump, text that dances around, blank areas.

3,1%

54 websites still have no security padlock (HTTPS). In 2026, the browser flags them as «not secure».

Where the customer slips away

The flaw is almost always on three fronts.

Looked at closely, the problems repeat in the same three places.

01

Speed on mobile

That’s where most of the traffic is today. A slow website does two things at once: Google pushes it down in the results and the visitor, who won’t wait, leaves. It’s the flaw that costs the most silent customers.

02

Basic SEO left undone

One in four has no meta description and one in ten not even a page title. It’s the most elementary part of SEO, it’s free to fix and almost nobody does it.

03

A broken experience on load

Layout that jumps and, in some cases, websites still without a security padlock. It signals carelessness in the very first second, when the visitor is deciding whether to trust you.

Truth guarantee

How we measured it.

Our own data, measured on 15 June 2026. No extrapolation, no rounding up.

The sample

1.734 websites of small businesses in Spain, mostly administrative and advisory firms, the sector we prospect in.

The method

Automated audit with our system: a PageSpeed/Lighthouse engine plus on-page checks (title, meta description, HTTPS and load stability).

The honesty

It’s a sample skewed toward one sector and doesn’t represent all small businesses. The percentages are out of the total websites analyzed.
