It is not that your content is bad. It is that people leave before they reach the good part. What moves the needle is hooking them at second zero and stopping posting for the sake of posting.
It has happened to you: you record a reel, put real effort in, post it... and 80 views. And you think «this is not for me, content does not work in my sector». It is almost never that. The problem is not in what you say, it is that people leave before you even start saying it.
A client with a wonderful cake shop told me: «Pedro, I make beautiful videos and nobody watches them». I asked for the last three. All three opened the same way: «Hi! So, today I wanted to show you a little something that...». By the time the little something arrived, half the audience was already gone. And the algorithm, seeing that people leave in the first second, stops showing it. A vicious circle.
This is the idea that delivers the most results and the hardest one to apply, because it goes against how polite we are. We want to say hello, introduce ourselves, give context. And on social media that is exactly what sinks the video.
The rule of thumb is simple: if in one second they do not know what it is about and why it matters to them, they leave. They are not giving you two minutes of courtesy, they give you one. Spend it well.
The other big mistake is the opposite: posting for the sake of posting. «They say you have to post every day». People will tell you all sorts of things. Uploading filler does not help; it trains the algorithm to show you less, because people do not stay for what gives them nothing.
Before you post anything, ask yourself one question: «would anyone save or share this?». If the answer is no, leave it. Pick a useful idea, tell it well and repeat it consistently. The algorithm rewards people staying and reacting. Three reels a month that get saved are worth more than thirty that get scrolled past, and along the way you spare yourself the stress of the daily grind, which is what burns out most people running a business and their social media on top of it.
Starting from scratch every time is exhausting, and unnecessary. There are proven templates, and leaning on them is not copying: it is not reinventing the wheel. The key is separating the template from the content.
The idea is still yours and the format is proven. That way you are not starting from scratch or betting blind every time.
One last note that applies to reels and to everything else: drop the jargon and use the words your client uses. Where do you find them? In how they message you on WhatsApp and in your reviews. That is the real language of your people. If your clients say «a simple website that looks good on a phone» and you write «optimised responsive design», you are talking to yourself. Whoever connects, holds attention; whoever sounds like a brochure, bores.
