The eight that should be yours.

From your identity to your data history: this is what’s worth having in your name, and what to demand in each case.

1 · The domain

Your brand’s name online. According to ICANN, the registered holder is the only legal owner: it must be your company.

2 · The hosting

The house where your website lives. Have access to the account or, at the very least, your own external backups.

3 · CMS administrator

An «editor» profile publishes a post; the administrator one gives you real freedom to switch providers or change course.

4 · The professional email

Whoever controls the admin email controls the «password reset» for everything. The Workspace or Microsoft 365 invoice, in your name.

5 · Software licenses

Paid builders, plugins and themes: know which license they run under so they keep updating if you change teams.

6 · Analytics and Search Console

Under GDPR, you are the data controller; the agency only processes it. That history is your commercial memory.

7 · Google listing

Google is clear: the business owner should be the primary owner. The agency comes in as an invited manager.

8 · Meta Business Suite

Your pixel and your ad account —what learns who buys from you— should live in your own Business Manager.
