Most accounting firms grow by word of mouth, and it works until it stalls. When someone finds you for the first time, your website decides whether they message you or keep looking at the competition.
A client looking for an accountant is about to trust their taxes, their payroll and their deadlines to someone they don't yet know. Their first stop is almost always your website, and that's where they decide in a few seconds whether to message you or keep searching.
Before picking up the phone, whoever finds you wants to know who's behind it. Your website has to answer that quickly: the name and face of the person in charge, your professional registration or association number if you have one, years in business, what you specialise in (freelancers, retail, companies, inheritances) and how you work month to month. Without that information you convey the same trust as a flyer in a mailbox. These are the signals that truly move a client to get in touch:
That's how we arrange these signals in web design for advisory and accounting firms, so that trust shows from the very first screen and doesn't have to be taken on faith.
Almost every accounting firm competes locally: most of your clients want someone from their city or their neighbourhood, someone they can sit down with when they need to. That's why local SEO is usually your most profitable investment. It's about showing up when someone searches «accountant in Getafe» or «accounting firm for freelancers near me», and that's built with a well-structured website, a well-kept Google Business Profile listing and dedicated pages for each service and each area you work in.
Done well, this brings you leads without paying for every click. It's slow at first and steady afterwards, the exact opposite of paid advertising.
Capturing a lead and letting it go cold by not replying in time is the most expensive hole in an accounting firm. Your website has to make the first step easy and you have to get there quickly. A short form (name, contact and, in two lines, what they need) converts far better than one that asks for half your life before it lets you speak. And if the client can book a first appointment themselves, from their phone and at any hour, you save yourself the back-and-forth of calls to line up diaries.
The real difference is what happens after someone messages you. With a simple automation, every lead lands instantly in your inbox and in your client sheet, gets a first «we've got your message» reply and triggers an alert so you answer within minutes, not the next day. That's how we set it up with automation: fewer repetitive tasks and not a single lead left unanswered.
Here comes the best part for an accounting firm with a website: the regulations are handing you reasons for people to seek you out. Thousands of companies and freelancers have to adapt to mandatory e-invoicing and the Verifactu system, and many don't know where to start. Whoever explains it clearly on their website is the one who gets the call. Three figures to size up the opportunity:

is when Verifactu becomes mandatory for companies; for freelancers, from 1 July 2027. A perfect reason for people to write to you now. Source: BOE

The timeline is real and it's in the BOE, Spain's official state gazette. Verifactu is mandatory for companies from 1 January 2027 and for freelancers from 1 July 2027, under Royal Decree-Law 15/2025, which extended the deadlines. And business-to-business e-invoicing, born out of the Ley Crea y Crece, already has its regulation approved in Royal Decree 238/2026; the deadlines (twelve months for large companies, twenty-four for the rest of companies and freelancers) start counting when the public-platform order comes into force. Translated into your business: an avalanche of questions your website can answer before anyone else.
Useful content is the most honest way to prove you know your stuff. You don't need a thesis: a clear guide to «what changes with Verifactu for a freelancer», a summary of the income-tax deadlines or an article on when it's worth moving from freelancer to company are worth more than any slogan. Those pages answer what people type into Google, they rank you and, by the time the reader finishes, they already trust you enough to take the step.
It's the asset that pays off most in the medium term, because a good guide keeps bringing in clients months after you published it, without you having to do anything more.
You don't need to build it all on day one. You need a solid foundation: a website that's fast, clear, that builds trust and that captures leads. On top of that base you add local SEO, content and automations as the business calls for them, without redoing anything.
