The Kit Digital is a public grant that can cover a good part of your website. Used well, it is an opportunity; used badly, you end up with a template site that brings you nobody. This is the honest guide to using it wisely.
It is a public grant programme, funded with European money and managed through Acelera Pyme, to help freelancers and small businesses digitalise. It works with a «digital voucher»: an amount that covers solutions such as your website, online store, social media management or CRM.
The amounts, brackets and deadlines change with each call for applications. Always check the up-to-date figures on the official site and be wary of amounts you see on blogs, this one included.
Within the «Website and basic online presence» category, the voucher covers part of the cost of creating or renewing your website. It usually includes domain, hosting, design, mobile adaptation and basic search-engine optimisation.
Here is the problem we see again and again. Many businesses use the Kit, receive a generic template filled in with their details and then wonder why the website «brings them nothing». And it is only natural:
The grant is not the problem; the problem is using it just to get by. A subsidy poorly used is a missed opportunity.
If you are going to build your website with the Kit, choose carefully. Ask this before signing:
